Dimensional Sketches

Google SketchUp Tutorial:

This is an older tutorial I made for the Paper Wings Podcast.

I often use SketchUp for environment and sometimes for character design. It’s a great way to rough-out an idea and gain a solid understanding of how I’ll draw/ paint the form(s).

Often, as I did while designing my second ‘Animal Farm’ painting, I take a screenshot of the SketchUp window, paste it right into my Photoshop document and work over it.

I used this workflow all the time at Disney …especially when working on Planes and Planes 2.

I wanted to post this here for those of you who are interested in using SketchUp models in your digital paintings.
