Trees: Methods And Mysticism

We’ll begin with a conversation about the unique role that trees have played (and the role they will continue to play) throughout the history of visual storytelling.

Next we’ll take a close look at the physical properties of trees and foliage and what those physical properties mean to the painter.

Following the greatest tree painters in history as our guide, I’ll provide a framework for designing, drawing and painting trees and close and then we’ll move into the homework assignment.

I’ll to try to keep the style discussion to a minimum for reasons that will become clear about half-way through the lesson…
